Kaanapali Beach of Hawaii
West Maui is best known for
Kaanapali Beach. In fact, Kaanapali Beach is tagged as the "signature
beach of west maui." The long stretch of powdery white sand and blue
waters has placed Kaanapali among the list of best beaches in USA.
Kaanapali was once a secret getaway for Maui's elite, until the beach
was popularized in travel journals around the world.
Kaanapali Beach
Kaanapali is a pioneer of sorts in the
tourism industry of the world. It was the first planned resort of Hawaii
and has since served as a pattern and model for other beach resorts in
the Pacific and in the world. The beach has five highly acclaimed hotels
and six condominium villages with vacation rentals. Another feature of
Kaanapali is the Whalers village, a marketplace that includes shops,
restaurants and a whaling museum. Whalers village also offers free
cultural entertainment.
Kaanapali is a sportsman's heaven,
serving as a host to two championship golf courses. The Royal Kaanapali
and Kaanapali Kai both offer spectacular views to golfers as they
tee-off.
One of the cultural attractions at Kaanapali is the
daily cliff diving diving ceremony held every sunset. Held at Puu Kekaa
or Black Rock, the ceremony reenacts a feat done by Maui's King
Kaheliki.
Kaanapali is accessible via Kahului airport, which is just 50 minutes away from the beach.
